Happy Holidays!

Just a quick one from me - Wishing you all a very safe and happy Christmas and beyond!

Thanks to each and every one of you for your patience and support over the past few months. I'll be back in the new year (after a short, and much needed break!). See you then :)

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

To all of you who visited MiniLaLa tonight - thank you so much! My head is spinning right now!

To those of you who have placed orders, I will do my best to get back to you asap. Please bear with me. I'm a little overwhelmed, to say the least! Thank you!!

To those of you who missed out, I am so sorry. There will be another chance in a month or so, and for one of you, a chance to get all the MiniLaLa nappies you want by entering the December ballot:

THE BALLOT is your second chance! Simply
email me here with your wishlist of nappies, and 'December Ballot' in the subject line. One person will be chosen randomly to have their wishlist made for them! Cut off date for current ballot entries is Monday 22nd December 2008.
You can see styles and prices here, and fabric choices here

And again, thank you, thank you, thank you!

Just a few hours to go!

The MiniLaLa stocking is tonight! Am I ready? No way! I'm scared! Hopefully my little website will handle it.

I've just made a few listings live, so you can add them before the nappies go up at 8.30pm.

Mini Bibs...

Liners and Boosters....

Cloth Wipes....

Now, a few things about the website (remember, this is the final stocking before the new site - YAY!):

- All items will be added to your Paypal cart, and can be paid for using credit cards and Paypal funds

- If the item you want to purchase is sold out, this will only appear AFTER clicking the 'proceed to checkout' button on your cart. The site itself will probably not quite keep up. This is why I've added the smaller items already. That way you can have those in your cart ready for the nappies.

- To check out without signing up for a Paypal account, click 'proceed to checkout' on your cart, and follow the instructions on the left side of the screen. (The word 'continue' is linked - click that)

- I am fairly certain that there will not be enough nappies to go around tonight, so if you do miss out, I'm sorry! There will be another stocking in around 6 weeks, and I will be running a ballot after tonight, so that at least one of you can get all the nappies you want! The ballot will be for blog subscribers only, and I'll send out details later in the week :)

- Orders placed tonight will have a slight delay in postage, as unfortunately I have to go away very early in the morning, until Thursday night. All orders will be sent via express post on or before next Monday, and should hopefully arrive before Christmas. Sorry for any inconvenience!

So 8.30pm. I hope you get the nappies you are after. Good Luck to you all (and to me, LOL)!

Have a look!

MiniLaLa is back online! Pop over and have a look at what will be available tomorrow night.

To let you all know (as I'm very excited!), we will *hopefully* have a brand new website for our first 2009 stocking! It'll be bigger, better, and most of all more functional than the current site. Can't wait!

Back to the sewing machine for me.... So much to do!!

Monday's the day...well, the night!

Yes, you've been so patiently waiting, and I am very glad to tell you that I will have a stocking of nappies available on Monday - that is December 15th. They will go up on the site at 8.30pm (now, that's eastern daylight savings time).

I will post further updates on the blog before Monday.

I'll open for 1 hour, or until sold out. For this lot, ordering and payment will be through Paypal only, via the cart on my site (sorry if that causes any inconvenience). Styles and sizes are very limited, with there being only 1 in some.

Your purchased nappies will be posted later in the week - all via express post, and no later than Monday 22nd - as we have appointments in Melbourne on Tuesday and Wednesday, so will be rushing off early Tuesday morning. (These things always happen at the most inappropriate of times!)

After this weeks stocking, I will be taking approximately 6-8 weeks to make some more nappies, try to organise some help, oh, and perhaps even take a small break to enjoy some festivities! We are also having a new website built, which I'm very excited about, so I look foward to showing that off in the new year.

Thank you to each and every one of you for your interest and support. Hopefully your babies will all be sporting a MiniLaLa nappy (or two) soon. If I don't hear from you on Monday, have a very safe and happy holiday season!

Sit still? Me? Never!

Nope. I am incapable! Sleep too, it seems.

Sadly enough, despite that, I haven't had alot of time to work on nappies in the past few days. I know, I know..... Hopefully I will find a small elf - no, a family of elves - who will help me reach my nappy goal before my re-open in less than a couple of weeks. Hmmmm.....

Here is a peek at just one other thing which has kept me busy this week
Hair clips. Lots of 'em! All available at La La Baby now.

Now back to the sewing machine....

It's official!

Thanks to Tania, at Darlings Downunder, my nappies have officially gone wholesale!

Oh, what a beautiful sight it was! Every single nappy, handmade by me (with a little help from my darling husband). Don't they look divine?

They'll be available at http://www.darlingsdownunder.com.au/ very soon.

What day is it?

December....? Already....?

As shocked as I am that we are but weeks away from Christmas, I'm actually pretty organised (for a change). Nicholas is 2 and a half, which means that Christmas is full of fun and excitement! Let's be honest, it can become quite a chore when we don't have anyone to get excited about our small efforts.

We decorated our Christmas tree last night. I think it's the first time (possibly ever!) that I've had it set up more than a few days in advance. The past couple of years we haven't even had one, so it was lots of fun! Nicholas and I did the decorating, Daddy took photos, and Ivie helped a little too.

I also spent many hours making an advent calendar. I was so excited about Nicholas' reaction, and he didn't disappoint!! We opened the first box last night to reveal a chocolate coin (it had to be something good for the first night). His eyes lit up like fireflies!

Christmas is going to be so much fun this year!

Why cloth, you ask?

I love cloth nappies. Love them! My only regret is that I didn't start using them from the very beginning...

There is so much to know about the benefits of reusable nappies, but in short: they save you money (thousands!), they don't contribute to landfill, they are not made using harsh chemicals, and they are much gentler than disposables for your precious baby's skin.
Mostly, they are ridiculously cute!

And why MiniLaLa nappies? Well, I think they speak for themselves. My nappies are the ultimate in pretty nappies! I make them with my very favourite designer fabrics. Each is handmade, and waterproof, so there are no extra bits. You can get an All-In-One (AIO) nappy in sizes small, medium, and large, or a One -Size-Fits-Most pocket nappy, which fits from early days 'til toilet training.

I use bamboo in my nappies (as well as microfibre) which has great benefits for your baby's skin - it's antibacterial, antifungal, very absorbent, yet breathable, odour resistant, and thermal, so it adjusts to hot and cold temperatures (similar to wool). Perfect for extra sensitive bottoms. Bamboo is great for the environment, doesn't require much water, and is organically grown, so no nasty chemicals. As a fast growing plant, bamboo is very sustainable, and it improves soil quality. Perfect! Oh, and don't worry about the Pandas - they don't like this particular variety, so they won't go hungry.

I know you're thinking that this is all well and good, but what about all that soaking and washing? It's much simpler than you might think: Take the nappy off, scrape solids into the toilet, store in bucket (dry pail) - no soaking or chemicals required. When ready to wash, just throw in the machine, use a tiny amount of additive-free powder, wash, rinse, hang to dry. Voila! They're ready to go again. I told you it wasn't so hard. Lets face it, one more load of washing every few days is nothing amongst the tonnes you already have to do with babies and toddlers!

The first post.....

I'm a little scared. This is my first ever post on my first ever blog! What to say? I suppose an introduction is appropriate. Ok, here goes....

Hello! I'm Carli. I'm Australian. I'm Mum to two gorgeous babies: Nicholas, who is almost two and a half, and Ivie, seven months. I also have a very supportive husband, who only ever rolls his eyes at my ever-expanding list of projects when I'm not looking.

I love making things, and am always being inspired by all sorts of things.

I have an online store -
La La Baby, in which I showcase many of my handmade items, amongst other gorgeous (and mostly handmade) things - and in September, I launched my MiniLaLa range of designer Modern Cloth Nappies. They are the main reason for this blog. The response has been overwhelming, and whilst I really shouldn't be spending any of my time without the chain to my sewing machine fastened tightly around my ankle, I thought this would be a great way to keep those of you who are interested up to date with the goings on at MiniLaLa.

I am currently closed to orders as I frantically try to catch up and re-stock, but will soon be re-opening (hopefully the second week in December) with a new strategy. I will be stocking my MiniLaLa store (hopefully monthly), and, for the time-being at least, will not be taking custom orders. I will try to keep as many different patterns in stock as possible, but I am only one woman! With one sewing machine, I might add...

If you would like to be kept up to date with MiniLaLa news, like stock updates, specials, and anything else, please subscribe to my blog feed in the menu on the right.

Thanks for reading my milestone first post :)
